2 weeks old!

Wow wow wow... I can't believe it's been 2 weeks already. Actually... 2 weeks ago right now I was probably holding her, STILL being stitched up... in awe that she was really finally here!

These past two weeks have completely sped by. On one hand I'm so happy to see all that she is starting to do, and how she is starting to change-but then on the other hand I wish I had my itty bitty newborn still.

She's grown and changed a lot since she was born, but I can't really put my finger on what it is. Her little face has chunked up, and I think her head has gotten bigger-her cute pink hat hardly stays on anymore. Her newborn clothes are still a little baggy on her though... she's such a peanut! She's getting really strong-if she is lying on my chest she'll push her whole head and upper body up, not for long, but she does it. She'll hold her head up too if she is sitting up or if we are burping her. She loves to kick her arms and legs-it's like she has finally figured out she's free of the restricting womb.

She is still a pretty content baby. She sleeps at night and only wakes up to eat, and only fusses here and there during the day. She's having more and more awake time every day, which I love-her gorgeous eyes are just so big and full of wonder. She loves to stare at Patrick and I, and at the TV when she is in her boppy on the floor.

She is a complete PIG when it comes to mealtime. She gulps down so much that she is out of breath and it's just ridiculous-Patrick and I got to laughing at her so hard last night when she was just sucking it down and her little mouth, cheeks, and chin were covered in formula. She was eating 3 ounces every 3-4 hours, but then she would start getting fussy after 2 hours, and then sometimes after 3 hours wouldn't finish her bottle all the way. We thought it was just her on a wacky feeding schedule, but then just figured out today that the measuring cup we use to measure out her water is inaccurate (we use drop-ins so we can't rely on what it says on the bottle) and so some of her bottles were getting 3 ounces of water and some were getting 4... so after our trip to get a new measuring cup in a little bit that problem will be solved.

I am finally starting to feel back to normal. We actually took our first walk today and it was nice. Although I know it takes time, I am very frustrated at the postpartum period-I'll be glad when it's all over. I am so ready to fit in more than just my maternity pants and sweatshirts. My hips had to have widened a whole bunch, because the jeans I wore (with the help of a bella band) most of my pregnancy I can't even get them halfway up my thighs yet. I'm hoping they go back to normal... I lost 17lbs in my first week, but am not sure what I am at now. I'm sure it will start to slow down till I get the ok to go to the gym. The emotional part of postpartum is a complete 180 to what I thought it was going to be-and it's rough on Patrick because he doesn't really understand it at all, and rough on me because it is frustrating.

We are starting to get in the swing of things, and I am so glad Patrick has had all of this time off. He still doesn't go back to work till next Wednesday, though he will be gone here and there to get predeployment stuff done (Anthrax shot tomorrow-yuck!). I love being a mommy, and love taking naps with my girl-I finally took the advice of everyone and gave up trying to get things done while she was sleeping.

We'll have plenty more pictures to post soon!
