Ta-da! Getting TO Florida was easy. Driving IN Florida was the problem. We stopped at the Florida Welcome Center on the way in to grab our complimentary cup of Florida OJ-something my Grandma and I always did since I was little!

Florida Vacation 2011
We were so thrilled last week to be able to take a mini-vacation, especially since the destination was Florida-Maya's first time there! When we moved to South Carolina last spring we were eager to go down there at some point-especially since it's only 6 1/2 hours to where Grandpa and Grandma H live in the winter (though interestingly it took around 11 1/2 hours to get there-we SAT in Titusville traffic for FOUR hours on the way there, and on the way back there was a forest fire and they closed I-95, detouring us just miles from Orlando... making that leg of the trip 9 hours).
We had an amazing time visiting. We spent a couple of mornings relaxing at the pool, where at 9 in the morning it was already sunny and hot-and we did as much sightseeing as we could squeeze in our three full days there (we wish it could have been longer... lots going on with Patrick's work right now, so we're just thankful we got what we did!)

We met up with a dear Jacksonville (NC) friend and her husband and adorable daughter-it was great seeing her, she's one I've missed a ton since we moved!
On Sunday we went to the Florida Oceanographic Society. Maya LOVED it and is still talking about it!

Sting Ray touch tanks-we spent a lot of time here! She didn't end up touching one in the end but she sure tried (and was soaked by the time we left)

This one isn't a great picture but it's one that scares me-you could crop Patrick out of this picture and it would look identical to a picture of me at that age, I think it's the eyes/eyebrows and hair that does it especially. I'll have to find a similar picture of me around then for a comparison!

It's official that we are going to have a little aquatic loving daughter. She was horribly mad every time we had to leave!

Maya also LOVED riding around in the golf cart! Grandpa took her on her first and last ride of our trip and she had a complete blast!
Thank you, Grandpa and Grandma, for the amazing weekend! I wish we could have stayed longer but we had so so so much fun with the time we had. I can't wait until next year (and neither can Maya with as many times as she asks to go see you guys)!
